Top 10 Summer Bedding Plants

Geraniums
These sturdy plants are well suited to hot, dry conditions and flower all summer through to the first frosts. Varieties include trailing, climbing and upright.  Perfect for beds, borders patio containers, baskets and obelisks.

Marigolds
Marigolds are hardy annual plants and are great for cheering up any garden.  They are easy to grow and come in two varieties; African or French Marigolds and will give you multi-coloured brass, copper and gold flowers throughout the summer.

Begonias
One of the most versatile summer bedding plants, Begonias are well loved for their flamboyant blooms in a wide range of colours, and their ability to thrive in both sun and shade.

Impatiens
A popular annual that provides a dash of colour to the garden throughout the season.  The closer impatiens are planted, the taller they will grow.

Petunia
Masses of beautiful flowers that will tumble over the sides of baskets and containers.  They give a lovely scent during the flowering season.  A must in any hanging basket.

Rudbeckia
Among the best border perennials available, Rudbeckia plants make a busy, upright clump with a profuse display of brown-eyed, golden daisies until mid-autumn.  Will grow to about 2 ft tall and will attract butterflies.

Cape Daisies
Beautiful simple flowers that have elegance and simplicity.  The flowers open in the sun and will flower all summer long.  They can be perennial if kept in a sheltered spot.

Cosmos
Wonderful bee attracting plants. The large flowers bob prettily on slender, wiry stems and are a great source of late nectar for pollinating insects.  Will flower until mid-autumn.

Fuschia
Fuschias are versatile, hard-working bedding plants that will flower virtually all summer long (with very little effort).  They grow happily in sun or partial shade, whether planted in borders, beds, boxes, baskets or containers.

Antirrhinum
Loved for the architectural flower spikes and incredibly long flowering period.  Tall snapdragons make superb cut flowers and add height to beds and borders: dwarf snapdragons can be used in beds, borders and patio containers.  Great source of nectar for bees as well.
